Bostitch RN46 Review
The Bostitch RN46 Roofing Nailer is actually incredibly powerful, delivering 410 inch/pounds of power at just 100 PSI. The roofing nailgun offers two modes of fire, sequential, or a bump fire system that will allow you to shoot over 100 nails a minute. At those speeds you’ll be glad the Rn46 has a large magazine, and is easily reloaded with it’s unique design.
The right depth for any wood type or project can easily be set via the integrated drive adjustment dial. With 5 different settings, you will have no problem finding the perfect depth for any job. To keep working longer with out interruptions, the Bostitch RN46 Roofing Nailer holds 120 coil nails. The nailgun accepts nails with a diameter of .120 and lengths between ¾ of an inch to 1-3/4 of an inch.
The built in dry fire lock out prevents unnecessary wear to the tool when your magazine hits empty. A side view display also shows the user how many nails are left. The patented side loading design makes adding more nails to the magazine a breeze, even your grand mother could do it.
The magnesium designed body keeps the tools weight down while providing a rugged casing to protect the insides from abuse on the construction site. Built in wear guards, skid pads, and carbide nose piece all prevent damage ensuring years of committed service. No extras are included in the box.

“On our last job I nailed down shingles on about a roof 50 square feet roof and have nothing but great things to say about this nailer. The magnesium body really makes this gun one of the lightest I have used, and the balance is perfect. Over the 50 square feet, I only encountered one jam, which is more than acceptable. The side-loading magazine is pretty cool and works really well. I’ve also really come to appreciate the automated lock out when I’m out of nails. I’d definitely recommend this gun to other roofers.”

“This first gun I receive didn’t function properly. I promptly got an exchange and the second one has worked incredibly well. I’m a 20 year veteran roofer and after the first time I used the nail gun I was hooked. The Bostitch RN46 Roofing Nailer actually surprised me with how fast it can shoot nails. I was actually able to nail down roofing faster then before. I’m pretty sure this nail gun is the second lightest on the market and really made a difference with how my arm feelt at the end of the day. The dry fire prevention system is nice as it saves you damaged shingles. This nailer has made me a lot quicker on the job site, I’m really happy I decided to upgrade.”

Final thoughts about the Bostitch RN46 Roofing Nailer
The Bostitch RN46 Roofing Nailer is an affordable option if you’re a roofer. The seven year warranty means this tool will last you quite some time. The ultra lightweight design and balance is outstanding. Acceptable nails can easily be found at your local hard ware stores, which is a huge bonus. Overall we’re really happy with this nail gun. Our minor quirk was Bostitch was too cheap to include the necessary air fitting, however that not uncommon. This is a great buy for the money, and gets our stamp of approval.
